James Geraghty’s recent cases in Haverhill District Court:

The defendant was stopped for speeding by the Boxford Police and when the officer approached the motor vehicle he noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his vehicle. The defendant was unable to recite the alphabet in the correct order, nor could be perform the one-legged stand of the nine step walk and turn correctly. Upon being arrested, the officer located a loaded firearm on the person of the defendant. CASE DISMISSED

Haverhill District Court – The officer reported he stopped the client for a wide left turn causing him to go into the breakdown lane, hitting the fog line twice and driving with his left side tires on the double yellow line. The officer stated there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car, the client’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he had slightly slurred speech and the client admitted drinking two beers when asked. The officer further stated the client did not say the alphabet as instructed and could not properly complete the one leg stand field sobriety test and failed the walk and turn field sobriety test. CASE DISMISSED
